KibToys Guides, Toy Finds & Weirdly Useful Stuff

Quick Answer Most sea glass falls into a few familiar colors: frosted white, brown, and kelly green. Seafoam, soft blue, aqua, and certain greens appear less often, while cobalt blue, lavender, pink, citron, red, orange, turquoise, and some very dark colors are much harder to find. But here is the important bit: there is no universal sea glass rarity chart that works perfectly on every beach. Local glassmaking, shipping, dumping, and bottle-use history can completely rearrange the odds. Think of this chart as a collector's field guide—not a lottery ticket with suspiciously precise odds printed on the back.

Quick Answer Sea glass is ordinary man-made glass that has spent years or decades being naturally weathered along a shoreline. Waves, sand, rocks, and chemical weathering slowly soften its sharp edges and turn its once-shiny surface matte and frosted. Most pieces began life as bottles, jars, tableware, windows, or other everyday glass objects. In other words: somebody lost a bottle, and the ocean gave it a very, very slow makeover.
